NO DEBRIS FILTER???? WF70F5E2W4W F500 Ecobubble washing machine

I got the 5E error a few times and on trying to address it by cleaning the debris filter, this is what I see.

What am I looking at here? Is the cap broken off from the debris filter body? Is it a factory fault? Any ideas how to fix (super glue)? And if I can't take the debris filter out, how else can I clean it?

I do suspect it being sludged up in there with maybe one or two coins. I have run the machine empty and the water is relatively clear coming out of the drain pipe.
