Hi there-I have a fridge with an icemaker which keeps frosting up heavily and then gets jammed. Is this a problem which I can solve myself or should I call the technician?

@Williamiain : Thank you for confirming. Please be aware that I have removed the serial number from your post for data protection purposes. If you have followed the steps in my previous post, and the issue has re-occurred, then I recommend reaching out to our Help Desk via the link below to arrange an engineers inspection.

@Williamiain : Please can you confirm the model number of your refrigerator, and I will look into this further for you. In the meantime, please ensure that the fridge temperature is set to 3 degrees Celcius, and adjust the temperature if it is any higher or lower. Also, please ensure that the fridge door is closed properly, and that there is no damage to the seal. If you can see excessive frost build up inside the fridge itself, please defrost it via the steps below.

1. Remove all items from your fridge and place them into a cool environment.
2. Unplug your fridge.
3. Lay out some towels underneath the fridge to catch any water and have some more handy to mop any water inside the freezer.
4. Carefully, fill a clean spray bottle with boiling water.
5. Spray the frost with the hot water to melt it.
6. Mop up the water with a towel and make sure the fridge is completely dry and clean.
7. Plug your fridge back in and restock it.

It is model RF 24HSBSBSR

I have defrosted it and it’s working again, but last time I did that it just frosted up when we didn’t use it for six weeks or so. Material on the Internet suggests that there is a technical fix which can be carried out by a Samsung engineer replacing a part in the icemaker
