How do I work the Soften/Melt function on my microwave?

I have the MS23K3515AK microwave

Every time I press the Soften/Melt button, the number options come up but it does not respond when I press start.

Why? The manual is not very helpful.

Is there an extra step I'm missing?

I had this problem and thought it was faulty at first but then pressed the little button by the rotary ***** and here you choose whether you're melting/soft 50 or 100g.
Then press start! 😊
