Grill comes on during convection setting

Hi, I have a Samsung NQ50J353 combination microwave oven. When I start it in Convection mode the grill comes on intermittently and consequently cooks the food nearer the top of the oven much quicker than at the bottom. In fact it can burn the food on the top shelf whilst leaving the food in the lower shelf undercooked. Does anyone know how to stop this from happening?

Thanks

Hi,

We recently bought it from a relative who had hardly used it so not sure. I have had a look at other forums for other brands and it appears that some use the grill as a quick heating method to get the oven up to temperature but as it is, it means we cannot cook on a higher and a lower shelf at the same time due to the difference in temperatures.

We asked to our specialists about this, and we can confirm that this is a normal function on this model. It has upper and lower heating elements and on Convection Mode it will switch on and off regularly to allow the fan to blow air around to make it more even.

Hi, does that mean that the food on the top shelf will always be hotter than the one on the bottom? I thought the idea of a fan oven was that it would be an even temperature throughout. It seems that there is a design flaw with this oven. Please correct me if I am wrong or tell me a way of overcoming this design feature.
