Fridge/freezer RB29FWRNDSS causing interference on all HF bands.

Hi all.

I've been trying to track down interference I'm getting every 8 kHz on the HF amateur radio bands and spotted that when I turn off the fridge it disappears completely.

I have installed ferrite chokes on both ends of the fridge mains lead and put a mains filter in line with my radio equipment power chain.

None of this works.

If I want to use the radio now, I have to switch the fridge off in advance.

I have a very small kitchen and live on my own, do pulling the fridge out completely is a major job.

If I have to I will, but would rather have solid info to go on before attempting this.

As I've mentioned, all HF bands are affected, but 40m - 10m are the ones I use the most.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul.

Paul did you ever manage to find a solution to the 8khz interference from the Samsung (inverter) fridge. I have the same problem.

Thanks

Hi David.

I'm afraid not.

I've moved now, so it's a little better as there are thicker brick walls between the fridge and the radio.

I contacted Samsung directly but they didn't even bother to reply.

I'm tempted to try out an x-phase QRM Eliminator to see if this does anything.

Will update this thread with results.

Sorry I can't be of any further help.

Regards,

Paul.
