Can I wash a king size summer duvet in my 9kg washing machine? The duvet has a wash symbol of 40° saying use large washing machine.

Once it's wet it's going to get heavy, and you should always have the drum 60/40 or 70/30 full so the clothes can wash properly.
Cheaper to take it to a laundry £5 for big machine.
Let it breathe when in the machine.
Or you could stuff it in to a 9kg , it will work but won't clean properly.

I agree and  do not think it would be advisable , certainly for king sized duvet . Much better to have it dry cleaned. See some information here https://inthewash.co.uk/washing-machines/can-you-wash-a-king-size-duvet-in-an-8-9-10-kg-washing-mach...    If it is a Samsung machine can also see some guidance here Samsung-Bedding Items Guidance

The most you could wash in a 9Kg machine is a single and even then it depends on the filling.
