ZFlip4 - security patch level stuck on June 2023

Hi Community,

The security patch level on my Flip 4 is stuck on 1st June 2023.  Nothing I try seems to get it to update.  Everything else seems up to date.

The problem with this is that my work profile uses Microsoft Intune which now enforces the security update to be no more than 12 months old.  So I'm going to lose access to work resources unless I can update this security patch level.

I searched the community and found some suggestions about SIM cards.  I've tried swapping SIMs, turning them off, etc etc but still doesn't seem to have worked (though I don't have a working SIM from the network from which I originally bought the phone).

I've submitted error reports via Samsung Members but they are not replying to me.

Any ideas?

Many thanks,

Richard

Hey there and welcome to the Samsung UK and EU Community Forum

May I please ask, where did you buy your device from?

Which country?
Which retailer?

And which country are you in?
I am not employed by Samsung nor do I receive any remuneration as a Samsung Members Star.

My device is an S25 Ultra.

Hi there.
I'm in UK. I bought it from EE. I've since moved away from EE and have both Vodafone and O2 SIMs in the phone.
Many thanks.

Ok so none of that should be an issue.

You could get an EE SIM (free PAYG) pop it in then try connecting via WiFi.

If that doesn't work, try using Smart switch via a laptop.

If that doesn't work, I wonder if InTune is causing your issues

Thanks. I've tried the laptop method. Same message - says it's up to date but it isn't.
Interesting point about intune. Maybe I will try removing it, then updating the phone and reinstall intune.
Thanks!

Hi all. Update. I factory reset the phone. Tried updating before intune was installed.
No luck.
Security patch still stuck in June 2023.
My Flip4 will become useless for work purposes by the end of the month, when they start enforcing the policy

Hi all.
I was led to believe there were Samsung engineers active in this community?
Can any of them please tell me how to update the security patch on my device?
My phone is no longer fit for purpose for corporate use (work profile)

I've had tickets open via Samsung Members for weeks now with no reply.

Hope someone can help.

Many thanks.

Hi @RichardMcCrossan ,

A factory reset is the last (official) software step, and the engineers would need an error report with software logs to analyse to give any further advice on this one (and you've already sent them, as you've said). But, at this stage it’s looking more likely that it’ll need to be checked out at an Authorised Service Centre. (https://www.samsung.com/uk/samsung-experience-store/locations/ and https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/repair/) to see what's going on and flash updated software onto the phone.

Out of curiosity, when you go into ‘Settings > About phone > Software information’ what’s the  ‘Service provider software version’ say for your Flip4? It might shed some light, and whether Piper123 was along the right lines of the phone somehow being outside of its market origin.

Hi. Thanks for getting back to me.
Indeed, I've done factory reset, sent logs, and also gone to service center. (They told me to factory reset 😀)
Service provider software version is:
SAOMC_SM-F721B_OXT_EUX_13_0014
EUX/-/EUX/EVR

Does that help?

Many thanks.

No worries.

And cheers! That 'EVR' there confirms the EE origin. In theory, as Piper123 suggested, an active EE SIM in it should allow the device to update. Very odd that it hasn't. 😕 (I'm guessing you've tried.)
