Z Fold 4 My First Impressions

So after months of speculation. It's here and in my hands.

The Galaxy Z Fold 4.

The box is minimalist with the design with the name front and centre to leave you with no doubt what's inside. 

First of all the packaging with the pamphlets, charging lead and sim ejection tool

Below that is the main event.

The Galaxy Z Fold 4

It's fully wrapped up in a protective covering and just peels off.

There is no screen protector on it, so it's worth ordering one when you purchase the phone.

Also no charger, so can order one of these while your there.

So first thing I noticed is the crease is not as pronounced as the Z Fold 3.

I will do a comparison post between the two soon.

But the phone feels premium. 

I got the grey/green colour.

It has similar coloured polished frame edges. Hopefully this finish will be durable and won't scratch easily. 

All the buttons are basically the same as the Galaxy Z Fold 3, including the SIM tray.

Large speaker grills with plenty of microphone holes.

The camera bump doesn't stick out too much and the cameras seem to be slightly larger than the Galaxy Z Fold 3.

But again I will cover this in a comparison post.

First impressions of the screens. 

Well they look amazing with such bright and vibrant colours. 

Samsung just do the best looking screens 

So that's just a quick First impression and got more bits to come.

Yes. Not sure on the height but width wise it is. It feels more like a normal phone on the front screen to me now lots more usable

The front screen is slightly wider and a touch shorter.
Being wider by a small amount definitely improves using a keyboard on it.

My understanding is that Samsung have made the bezels thinner making the outer screen slightly bigger.

Is that right @Glenntech  ?

They are definitely thinner. Think the frame is slightly wider as well. With the reduced size of the hinge, it makes the phone about the same width as the Fold 3 when closed

From the YouTube reviews it's been suggested the outer screen is 3mm bigger @Glenntech

Not sure about that much.
But it is noticeably easier to type on now.
But visually it's wider for definite.
I've seen the official figures, but may measure it myself later

Got it next day. I think the upgrades from the fold 3 are minimal, but they were exactly what were necessary. The device is now what I wanted from the 3.

What upgrades from the Fold³ to the Fold⁴ helped you pull the trigger may I ask ?

Bigger front screen (not by much, but a noticeable difference), camera upgrade, hinge is smoother and as the bevels have been reduced, the area around the edge of the main screen is now more responsive. On the 3, they would sometimes fail to register a touch. And the Dock is a great feature too. The only thing I'm sore about is they haven't upgraded the battery. Still lasts all day though.
