My device went through an automatic update on Saturday. When my phone restarted the main screen came on but was unresponsive along with the side buttons. I managed to do a soft reset but that did not work. I tried starting in recovery mode using power/vol up but it will not enter the menu. After several soft resets, I finally managed to get the screen to respond. This worked fine until I closed the phone and reopened it, and the same issue happened again. I have done a factory reset and removed all the apps but the issue remains. I could start the phone in safe mode and that got the screen working but it won't even do that anymore. It is also overheating when charging and when the inside screen is distorted with static lines when closing the phone. I spoke to Samsung support who said it sounded like an app issue, that's the reason I completely wiped the phone, I should state the only apps I had on my phone were banking etc, I haven't installed a new app in 3 months nor updated any of them. The device has not been dropped, damaged etc and is in pristine condition. This occurred as soon as the update was installed. The front screen works fine.

I have this problem too , i found that after a force restart the screen is working and continues to work as long as i don't flip it so i have to use it as a non flip phone . Rather frustrating since it was kind of expensive phone . If this is not fixed by the ui8 upgrade , my next flip phone will not be samsung

I also have the same problem. The Z Flip6 has been very well looked after, but the display is black now and totally unresponsive. I left it in to my nearest Samsung support centre and the counter staff agreed that the phone was in very good condition. They also advised that around 50 foldable phones are brought in EVERY WEEK with the same problem, and added that Samsung would probably try to renege on the warranty, claiming that the phone had been damaged.
Sure enough......the response is that there is a screen scratch which invalidates the warranty! I have made the point that any screen scratch (which I dispute) would be cosmetic and not explain a total hardware failure, but the Samsung argument is that any damage, whether directly relevant or not, nullifies the Samsung warranty.
Needless to say, this provokes a very negative response from me. The Samsung warranty is effectively completely pointless - akin to a car manufacturer arguing that a bumper scratch allows engine failure to be reneged on. The Samsung rep has asked me to obtain pictorial evidence from the Samsung support centre that there was no screen scratch. Apparently they can't seek this information because of GDPR!!!
I fairly vehemently made clear that I would never buy any Samsung product ever again, if the warranty was shown to be hollow and meaningless. I cannot believe that a major manufacturer behaves this way, and I will pursue consumer legislation to seek a more satisfactory outcome.
