I've seen a good video from Flossy Carters YouTube channel and he always opens the flip with a flick of the wrist @arvids
To be honest if I owned the Flip I'd open it in a more controlled manner as not to put undue unnecessary force on the phone's hinge system.
These phone's are pretty expensive however it does look pretty cool opening it that way, and reminds me on how Captain Kirk opened his communicator in StarTrek !
