Samsung backup

Hi all, does anyone know if I connect a external drive to my phone a fold 3 and do a Samsung backup to this drive via the backup option in settings linked to smart switch if it will also back up the contents of the knox container? I am trying to find a reliable way of doing a full backup without a pc if possible.

I have my phone set to backup everything but I don't know how to access the backup.  Is its purpose ONLY to restore to the phone?   Can I just access my photos in the cloud?  I'm looking for those I have deleted from my phone.
