Notifications not appearing on cover screen

Hello

I have a Z Flip 3 and when I got the phone it would show incoming app notifications when folded and just laying on the table.

For some reason it has stopped doing that - probably because I changed some setting somewhere?

I would just love to get that working again - any ideas?

did you ever get this resolved? It isn't working for me either. I also have no option for smart pop-up view in my advanced settings.

I searched settings for "Always on Display" (it shows up under lock screen).  Expand "always on display" (below "smart lock" on my phone). Make sure the radio button is on and set to "show always". I used to have it set to "tap to show" and notifications used to come through even when my phone was closed, but as some point recently stopped unless I "woke" the phone up.  so far with this setting they are coming through.

Some notifications don't show on the screen for some reason. Not sure why. None of my emails will show on the screen (I use newton mail). Google messages are really odd too (I like Google messages way better than Samsung).

Hm.  try tapping the clock display with your phone folded (to make it bright) and then swipe the clock display to the right - there is an additional screen to the left that lists the notifications.  I realize this is ridiculously not user-friendly, LOL, but just a piece of info.   (there are also several more screens, including music controls, etc, to the right of the clock (swipe left)) . I used to get an orange light when I had a new notification, and that seems gone now as well.  UGH.

I know that. They show up there. But I want them to wake up my screen and show me the notifications. It's stupid for me to have to tap on it and then swipe just to see the notifications. I can open the phone and see if faster than that lol

so apparently the small screen is called the "cover screen" in settings.  and strangely, if I turn OFF "always on display" in settings (for the main screen, I assume), the little LED notification light on the small screen is back! and POOF the notifications are displaying automatically again! I came across your post because I was having the same problem and was inspired to dig a little deeper. I hope these settings work for you as well

Correct, but it doesn't work for all apps. That's my current complaint. When I get a new email on newton, it doesn't show up on the cover screen. I have to double tap and swipe to see the email notification which is ridiculous.

I'm assuming you have the radio button for the Newton Mail app turned on in the "Notifications" screen under settings?  I'm not sure its much help, but I found a lot of the apps started behaving strangely last month when an update added the "remove permissions if app is unused" radio button when you expand "apps" under "settings" and select an app (such as Newton Mail). I have been turning the radio button off for apps that are behaving strangely.  You could also make sure the "notifications" option is set to "show" here as well.  I hope you figure yours out, I am super happy to have my little LED back, LOL.  thanks for posting here

On my phone it says that the Always On Display is not available on the cover screen?  If you have your phone closed and on the right hand side there are two lenses or lights of some type and when I first got the phone one of those two would light up when I received a notification, but not anymore.
