No audio when Fold 3 is open

Hi All,

Issue after issue, my audio doesn't work when I'm using the main screen. Fully open no audio but if I slightly fold the phone just before fully closing the audio works!?? How odd? 

The audio works fine when using the front screen.

Tried the reset/safe mode options no change.

Will this be covered under warranty? I did purchase the phone in Aug last year when it launched.

Do folds come with 2 year warranty? I checked my Samsung care and it expired in Aug 2022.

Not looking forward to getting in touch with Samsung!

my wife had the same problem a week ago. mine happened today. both fold 3. we paid fortune for the two. more than 3000£. to ge this experience!!!  Ripoff

The same happened to my Fold3 😞 after the recent update (January 2024) from Samsung. Nothing helped - I do not want to spend lots of money on repairs. I planned to buy a new Fold in next future but now I mistust Samsung. I think that this may have been done by purpose. So, no way, no Samsung (Fold) anymore. Luckily, there are other competitors available on the market. It is a shame -  I really liked my Fold3 but if Samsung does not appreciate their customers, such is life.

My Fold 3 is also now not playing sound when fold fully open. Very suspect that this problem occurs 2 months after and of contract & Warranty. Will watch this space for further action. Time for a mass group complaint and tweets to Samsung.

Hi, came to this forum as I now have the same problem after the last update. Thank God, it happened now as I was thinking to upgrade to the new fold model. I'm done with Samsung!

Same problem... What a shame that the phone is still doing well. Only way to get sound is to close almost 90 degree or connect to ear buds. Anyone find a way to change the connectors? I'll ply open the phone soon.

Same issue on the Fold 3. First happened a couple of weeks ago with the inner screen not responding. Then today with the inner sound not working and sometimes inner screen not working too. Bought in November 2021, just out of warranty.

There are YouTube videos to change the connectors which looks like it would work but looks too complicated for me.

I tried the 'separate app sound', it didn't work.  I have dropped my phone, but it was working after that for a few days then suddenly stopped. Works if just under 90 degrees open.  It is two years old and other than the screen protector cracking I've not had a problem until now. I also noticed I cant write on the bottom left quarter of the screen with my s pen.  I Will have to wait until my contract is up, not worth a repair!

I no longer believe it is a software issue. Having watched several videos, unfortunately, it looks like a hardware issue and an expensive one at that to fix. It seems like it's related to the 2 cables on the hinges (top and bottom) that need to be replaced after stripping the phone completely down. I might try sending it abroad to fix at a cheaper cost and the meanwhile consider buying the Google Fold which looks good value.
