@Gezza62 Have you searched in My Files as well as Google photos? Do you have syncronisation with One Drive set up? Are you photos not backed up anywhere else such as Dropbox.   There is also option to take local back up whether that be on computer or external Drive.   I would recommend backing up photos and files, cannot really take the chance.   A guide to some services here https://www.androidauthority.com/best-photo-backup-apps-android

Have you looked in My Files-Internal Storage-DCIM-Camera if pictures are there then may be you have filter applied in Gallery view? Also have you checked in My Files-Recycle Bin or Gallery-three lines bottom right-recycle bin. Just in case accidentaly deleted?
