Cracked screen along fold

Had my Z fold 3 or 13 months it has now developed the black line up the fold and right hand side is not operable. Assuming the screen has cracked along the fold hinge.

I sent the phone to EE as it's covered by unlimited warranty. They have refused to fix as they say it's a damaged screen and not covered.

Should I make an appointment with Samsung Experience or am I just wasting my time ? My assumption is they'll also blame me for damaging the screen.

For the record I did not damage the screen it just cracked when I opened it and that was that.

Anyone considering paying for a foldable phone I would suggest you don't. You were warned.

Thanks. That's what I thought. Unfortunately that's just not an option. EE quoted me £571. For a screen that might fail in a year. Crazy.

Samsung will charge you for a new screen replacement.

My advice comes from being a UK Samsung iPhone user.

Current Devices:
  • iPhone 14 Pro 256GB Deep Purple
  • Samsung Galaxy Buds+ > Model: SM-R175.

If there are absolutely no wear and tear chip marks, scratches or dents then you maybe in with a chance of them fixing it. Even then you may not get your phone back any time soon as there is a shortage of these screens due to countless people experiencing the same fault. They told me it happened because the screen protector was coming away and should of been replaced immediately. But only by Samsung.

My EE phone developed a line of green pixels suddenly one night. I sent it to EE under their 'lifetime warranty'. They said it had been caused by pressure on the screen and wanted £269 to replace. Their policy is a joke.

You'll probably end up paying for your repair I'm afraid. The folds and flips aren't worth the money you pay for them, you just need to read all the messages posted on here and people's experience when using or having to have them repaired. I wouldn't buy one.

I've had my flip 3 for 9 months and twice now my screen protector has bubbled along the fold line. on line chat really helpful and sorted out repairs for me but gutted that this is happening. not sure what will happen if happens again when out of warranty as believe this is a product fault rather than excessive use / wear and tear 😢

I have a resolution.

I was still under contract with EE for another year. They refuse to fix my screen but after making any complaint they have agreed at least to cancel the remainder of my contract with no fees or additional payments from me as long as I take out a new contract on a new phone.

I think that's a reasonable offer so I took it.

Best of luck

They'll not fix it, samsung warranty on fold phones isn't worth the paper it's written on.

Anyone know a uk lawyer who specialises in consumer warranty law ? I want to test this warranty wording in front of a judge.
