Pay 25? Samsung lies and ripe you off. This happen is because of the update of the software and value for the magnetic sensor change to too big in value. When sensor parameters out of the range the system will not tragger the flip and will not turn on the inside screen. So they even have a program to set back the right parameter to get the phone back to normal. So is that a physical damage ? Tell them to stop lies and stop streaking your money.

This has been resolved by the Samsung Store in Glendale, CA... The entire hinge/screen needed to be replaced. It has a 1yr warranty and I made it by 2-weeks! They employees were very helpful and the whole experience was very positive. They gave me a repair window to drop off my phone and texted me (actually wife since they had my phone!) when the repair was done. The tech came out and showed me everything they did and gave me tips for care. The store was very well organized and everything on display was neat and clean. This alone changed my opinion of the brand. I love Samsung products, but was about to swear them off, but this experience has afforded them a committed customer. I even bought their Galaxy Watch 6 Classic this xmas! (which is a great watch btw)

Got a Flip3 5G for the last 3 years, never made any OS updates and had no problem whatsoever. Until I decided to update it... Now everytime I open it screen turns on and back off when fully unfolded. Have to wait 20 seconds for screen to be back on. If I then close/open it no more issue until i leave it closed for a while. An obvious software issue from crappy updates. Thanks Samsung but I'm not getting another of your phones if you keep breaking them to force buying new one. And sure enough won't pay to get screen changed while the issue is software based.
Can't downgrade, factory reset doesn't help, cleaned phones entirely, no luck.
We also have 2 Flip 5 bought brand new, will definitely not update them ever and move on to another brand asap.
A 1000€ product turned into junk by it's own maker, what a shame!

Been years since I tossed my Flip3 in a drawer and still see these posts. I had issues immediatly following an update. Samsung gave the run around and of course this was two weeks after the warranty went out. Was a Samsung phone guy for years but no more. Now I am on the ASUS ROG 6 for a while and no issues. Never going back to Samsung. They obviously failed on this and their response was "eh, we got your money so who cares."
I used a small magnet to trigger the sensor. It's obviously do to the magnet in the phone either being weak or the software and sensor that gets triggered had its sensitivity changed in the update. Not sure. All I know is, never Samsung ever again.
