Original topic:

Sim not provisioned- S9 Plus Dual Sim

Dear Team,

I recently purchased a Samsung S9+ Smartphone with Dual sim capability. I was pretty much happy with it for the first day until I discovered the dual sim is causing trouble due to the region lock (maybe a reason). I bought an Italian version with the box stating European Sim card only, and the user manual suggested me to make a cumulative call for about 10 min to unlock and use any sim (if I understood properly). So my primary sim being an Italian operator, and the secondary was from India was recognized and worked fine for a day.

Then, I received an error stating "Sim not provisioned", I disabled my SIM 2 and the error disappeared. But that's not the solution as I want to use both sims. The SIM 1 works without any hassle. The SIM 2 Network is being searched forever although it displays the operator properly. Both sims worked fine until two days ago in my previous Motorola device.

Will the SIM 2 work if I go back to India, or should I get the Italian version model replaced with an International version device?

Thanks in advance. Kindly provide a solution about this bug.

Hi @austinvishal

Further to the advice offered by @Reginard, the error 'SIM not provisioned' usually relates to an inactive SIM, meaning it is neither region locked or network locked. With this in mind it would be a good idea to try it in another phone as your first port of call to help establish whether the problem lies with the phone or the SIM itself. I'd also, if possible, contact the relevant network in India to ask about any existing restrictions to your account.

Have you tried putting the Italian SIM into the other SIM card slot and making a call from that?

Yes, I have tried using the Italian SIM in both slots and it works fine. I am able to call using that whereas with the Indian sim card, it says sim not provisioned/ error while searching networks. So it is still region locked, right? Any idea.

Possibly.

There are three other possibilities I can think of....

  1. The Indian SIM is faulty - have you tried it in another unlocked phone.
  2. The Indian SIM is not selecting the correct roaming network - try manually selecting a network you know is compatible while in Italy.
  3. Your Indian network is rejecting the SIM for some reason.

Hi Reginard

Thank you for the list. Apparently, I tried the sim card on other network and for some reason, it's not been working.

1. Yes

2. It displays error searching network even before the commencement of the manual search

3. Yes, I had contacted the network provider. Hopefully, they will provide me with a solution in the upcoming days.

Thanks.

Thank you Andrew for your message. Apparently, yes I had to contact the network provider and sort it out. Hopefully, my sim is active in a few days again. Thanks.
