I assume you've upgraded from your last firmware to Samsung One Ui  / Pie.

There was a spate if posts from people who like you didn't like the new update for various reasons.

I personally do not think it's anything like iOS. 

iOS is in my opinion sandboxed i.e restricted by Apple to perform how they want it to and not the iPhone  / iPad owner.

Because your phone is very customisable you do have the option to....

Download a Theme and icon packs.

Download Samsung Goodlock.

Which have the ability to change the look and feel of Android 9.

Android 10 has now been released and hopefully shouldn't be far behind in regards to Samsung releasing it for eligible phones.
