S9 plus Not rebooting after update

Both me and my brother in law have found that if you update your phone through the night the phone doesn't turn back on unlike the s6 and s7 did. This is mostly annoying if you have alarms set on your phone as they don't go off. My brother in law has been late for work a couple of times after updates

I can appreciate your experiences. 

I personally prefer to update while I'm awake just so I can oversee that the process has completed properly. 

Perhaps invest in an alarm clock for peace of mind that will wake you up for work.
