S9 phone Display Dims when rebooting during Device System Updates?

I just had a System Update on my S9 phone a few days ago and I noticed when the phone went through the rebooting process even on the startup encryption password prompt, the display seemed to be dimmed. Is this normal in order for the phone to save battery power?

Thanks in advance

Hey @itsonlyme!

Have you checked to see if you have the Power Saving settings on? Here's a link for more information on Battery Maintenance. Does it appear brighter when placed on charge during the rebooting process?

Let us know how you get on! :womanhappy:

Power Saving Mode is OFF.  Maybe it will dim the display while performing system/software updates only. Who knows. But I will test later. The display dims at the Secure Startup Device Encryption password prompt and during the boot up process, but when the phone boots up on the Home screen, the display is birght and normal again.

I am really trying to remember if this happens only when the phone is updating or during a normal boot up process.

Will have to check later and post a feedback.

Thanks!

I just got a Galaxy S9 update and the phone restarted (being connected to a charger) and the Start-up Encryption screen goes dim. But afterwards, the screen goes back to normal again.

For anyone who also has their phone start-up password encryption enabled, please reboot your phone to see if the encryption password prompt screen goes dim or not.  I would like to see if this is normal.

But otherwise, my display is fine afterwards.

Thanks!
