Only about 10% experiencing drop outs on S9/+ calls

Hi Folks

Okay some of you will already know Im one of many who appear to be having a call drop out problem on the S9/+ when on a phone call

For me it can be 10 seconds or minutes where the person on the other end of the line can't hear me

So, I made a video,  a sort of musical rant (excuse the singing I sound like a strangled frog I know)

{{Click here to watch it}}

The idea is to like it if you experience the same or similar?

But so far I'm surprised it's running at less than 10% of views to people having the problem?

I thought it would be a lot more than 10 percent? As I've had 3 phones so far and all 3 have done the same thing!

And that's to drop out during almost every phone call!

So if you view the video and you have the same or similar experience don't forget to "like it" (even if you...ahem...don't like the singing!)

As it's been 4 weeks since you posted, did you hear from Samsung on the fix they were going to roll-out in 2 weeks?

Hi Yuvara80. I received an update on May 1st and it seems to have solved the dropped calls and silences.

Glad to know. Thanks for the update, ShellShark. Hope we receive an udpate soon here too in Singapore. Prior to that they need to acknowledge the issue. Did you get a chance to read the details of the update..was there any mention that the fix is for the call silence/drop issue? Just curious.

Hope this helps. For once the update mentioned call stability. Its a nonsense Samsung saying this was a minor issue. But thankfully my phone is working ok now.

I have now put a link in the comments section of my YouTube video to the original discussion on these forums regarding calls cutting out on the S9/S9+

https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-S9-S9/S9-speaker-phone-cutting-out-on-call/td-p/451835#

Hopefully that may bring a few more people into the discussion who are having the problem that have stumbled across my video on youtube but don't know about posting here

Did this ever get resolved?  I only got my S9 this year and I am having drop outs and calls go silent.  It will just ring off when it feels like it.  Really frustrating.

I'm on vodaphone in Ireland and every call I make or receive drops for around 30 seconds at a time... every single call

I think you're wrong, you cannot assume that because only 10pc of viewers of your video left a like for it, so 10pc has the issue and this for 2 reasons: first not everyone who has the issue actually realize to have the issue blaming someone's the network sometimes the other end of the call sometimes the headset etc, second because maybe people didn't even read to leave a like if they have the issue. Moreover I think it is not given for granted that all the phones are affected for some deduction reasons. One example in Italy all the operators are affected this means ot doesn't depend on the network. Moreover being random who didn't report it simply didn't notice (yet), maybe they use less the phone maybe they blamed ad told you before the network, etc. But it's sure all the s9 suffer this, otherwise how to explain people changing 8 phones and all have the issue?

Yes I'm hoping I'm wrong

That was my point really😉

I've had 3 phones each one same problem, others as you mention have had more than 3!! All with the same problem.

I cannot believe that it's not closer to 100%!!

But it's weird there are now videos from tech gurus who have thousands of subscribers...I'm talking serious youtubers

Who now have videos with the headlines like

Samsung S9/+ after 2 months THE BEST smart phone to date...blah blah blah!!

I look at the many many comments

And it's a love in

"Awesome phone" "yeah man great review best phone for sure"

And on and on and on and on...

So where are we guys??

Why is no one commenting??

"Yo bro what a crock! are Samsung paying you to keep your mouth shut about the call drop out/silence or what?  I'm on my tenth because every stupid replacement phone they've sent me so far drops out on calls!!" etc etc

I'm gonna do it and I'll post a link to my video if I can

C'mon guys if you've got the problem get telling these YouTube  tech gurus your problems😉

Here's one of mine

Feel free to post a link to my video if you want to. But let's get telling the world a bit quicker and these videos with 13K views and more will get the message out quicker than my 380 views😁😁

The new S9 and S9 + are poor mobiles and the conversation when using the mobile is dreadful

Hi Gregg, did you get the software update yet. I got it last night. I managed first call this morn for near 10 mins with no dropping but other person said they couldnt hear me for a few secs. Next call lasted 21 mins and no dropping or apparent silences. Then took a call that within a min person said they lost me for a few secs and then call dropped. I'm on Vodafone in Ireland too. Dunno whether the bad weather this morn could have played a part in last call interference and dropping.

Trust me it ain't the bad weather

And if people can't hear you even for 1 second it's what I've been banging on about on youtube and what we are all talking about on here

Here I am explaining Lucie/Samsung can’t hear me

Yeah I have been googling a lot of the blogs/threads about the S9. I rang Vodafone about 3 weeks ago (after 1st software update for 'call stability') when it first started happening. They told me they had gotten a few reports and to ring Samsung as it wasn't a network issue. I rang Samsung, got talked through backing up and doing factory reset. It did nothing. Rang Samsung back a day or 2 later and told update being rolled out in batches and they couldnt say when it would reach Ireland. I also contacted Samsung by Facebook Messenger and email. Messenger suggested running in Safe Mode. I tried that. Calls still dropped and silences. Email reply said 'limited number of reports from people experiencing these issues etc'. I had been told at beginning to drop phone into a shop to get it looked at, but I don't see the point. I would not be given a replacement phone there and then. I would have to wait 2 weeks minimum for them to return a verdict. I would have to use an old phone in interim. And by all accounts people who have been given replacement S9 phones have experienced the same issue with them. I had just upgraded from an S7 that never gave me a minutes grief.

“Dozens”?

I'm sorry I don’t believe only dozens

only thing I can think that’s throwing the percentage out is all those teenagers do they actually make phone calls?

They're all too busy texting, snap chatting and Facebook to call anyone Haha!

So my BIG question is this

Q. If it’s not the processor and it’s not the carrier and many people have had more than 1 replacement and all have had same problem. How is there anybody out there with a Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9+ that doesn’t have the problem?
