Only about 10% experiencing drop outs on S9/+ calls

Hi Folks

Okay some of you will already know Im one of many who appear to be having a call drop out problem on the S9/+ when on a phone call

For me it can be 10 seconds or minutes where the person on the other end of the line can't hear me

So, I made a video,  a sort of musical rant (excuse the singing I sound like a strangled frog I know)

{{Click here to watch it}}

The idea is to like it if you experience the same or similar?

But so far I'm surprised it's running at less than 10% of views to people having the problem?

I thought it would be a lot more than 10 percent? As I've had 3 phones so far and all 3 have done the same thing!

And that's to drop out during almost every phone call!

So if you view the video and you have the same or similar experience don't forget to "like it" (even if you...ahem...don't like the singing!)

Ok so another call to Tec as my brand new day old s9 dropped it's first call ....third phone I've had ! ...anyway they have assured me the software fix is on it's way but no date as and when ! ...really ....so this is how we are treated , with no real urgency...thanks samsung ...nice work ...... they said in the next couple of weeks !

The worry for me there is...

If the fix comes out in a few weeks and it doesn't work? It's going to be too late to cancel my contract and get something else

Still can't believe less than 10 percent are liking to say they have the problem if you like me are on your 3rd phone doing the same thing!

And how can Samsung keep replacing faulty phones if they know these phones are going to be fixed!  I don't get it tbh

I imagine the conversations in the Samsung shop

"Hey Jim can you send another phone out to Lee his third one is dropping out"

DUNNO WHAT YOURE TALKING ABOUT WHAT DROPPING OUT PROBLEM?

Hey Jim here's another 10 to send out replacing phones with the drop out problem again

DUNNO WHAT YOURE TALKING ABOUT WHAT DROPPING OUT PROBLEM?

Hey Jim blimey 20 more replacements to send today wow one fella looks like he's on his 7th handset that keeps cutting out

DUNNO WHAT YOURE TALKING ABOUT WHAT DROPPING OUT PROBLEM?

5 weeks later....

Hey Jim 100 replacements today it's getting worse why do we keep sending out replacements?

On the bigger discussion thread about this problem it seems that the phones (mainly but not all) affected by this problem are those that are SIM free which of course is every phone purchased through the Samsung upgrade scheme

I have added a comment to my video asking people to let me know if they are SIM free if they are dropping out like I still am?

Comment added re SIM free or not?

Please add Netherlands to the 4-20 seconds silence list.
I bought my S9 256GB directly from Samsung
I am using 2 SIMs (work and private) both are on the KPN network.

I installed the latest software on April 29th, with no effect

The phone is hardly usable for making calls
If anybody has any ideas please inform me

Thanks,

Nico

Hi Nico

Thanks for the reply and letting us all know. Again just hearing you share your frustration in your post I cannot understand how this problem is not 100%

How can people not have this issue? How can none of the big Youtubers reviewing this phone not have this problem. How can mine be the only youtube videos talking about this problem?

I've just had email from Samsung tonight that phone number 4 is on its way and arriving tomorrow!!

I will be amazed if it works and doesn't drop out, we shall see

I contacted Samsung Live chat Monday eve after a call dropped 4 times as well as silence. I received a software update yest morn. Fingers crossed but it seems to have worked. It actually mentioned 'call stability' in the update this time. Managed a 25 minute call this eve with no dropping or silences that I was aware of.

Thanks for summarizing country-wise.

Pls add Singapore - S9 Plus - Dual sim - 1 slot with local Singtel SIM, the other with Airtel SIM on roaming.

Replaced one phone already but the issue persists on the 2nd phone as well. The customer service personnel show blank face as though I was the first one they heard the issue from. I asked whether others reported similar issue, and Samsung replied that they didn't hear such issue from anyone, which is a lie, I presume.

That has to be a total lie because the update says improves call stability

Are they honestly trying to say we've done an update to improve call stability because we thought we could??

It's not 10% its every s9 that has this issue. Spoke to samsung tech support and apprently they are working on it but no eta . I suspect it is not software at all, but hardware and it is taking so long because they are working on a software work around for a hardware fault

I'm on my 2nd s9+ and have been told to go to yet another diagnostic center for an analysis and am expecting no real results.

Don't waste your time. Tell them our stories. If you waited for the new update (400+mb) to arrive in your country, that should fix the issue. But unfortunately the people at the diagnostic center are better informed of such updates than those on the phone.

I just finished installing a large update, im in the US so I'm not sure if this is the correct update. So far it doesn't seem like it has solved anything.
