Is it possible to change the background of messages?

So I got my S9+ this morning (upgrading from an S8) and I noticed the option to change the background of messages is gone. Has this feature been removed or is it still available under another menu? It's a shame that I can't find it because I really liked that feature from the S8.

Actually, mine does the same thing about the sound thing.  I just figured I was doing something wrong, although I did check that the settings were correct.  Now I think I have waited too long to get any help with it.  It is certainly not my favorite phone.   Also, settings (like font size etc.) just randomly change themselves.  Or even if the setting says it's the same, the actual font changes size.  It all sounds crazy, so I haven't said anything.

I have vision issues that makes the white on white text bubbles problematic.  I may return the phone.  This is not a very difficult upgrade.  I am not sure why this feature was removed.  I have it on my galaxy 7

It is possible if you are willing to switch to Messages+.  This app should already be installed on your device if you have Verizon.  It also has other cool features that the regular Messages app does not.

I'm really annoyed by this, I've always had Samsung then I went to the dark side and bought everything Apple... I I just recently purchased my Samsung Galaxy S9 and I like the themes but one particular theme Im usuing the font is too dark on the background in messages so half the time I cannot read it .it would be nice to have that customization back .

So what then.. is the reasoning behind 1. Getting rid of the bird chirps sound and the option to JUST CHANGE the bubble color? This happens on my note 9 and my friends note 8 as well. I do NOT want to change my whole theme and to be honest white text on bright backgrounds does not work!

Exactly, I went from a note 8 to the 9 and ***** massaging background is gone. So is the option to add a pro mode shortcut to homescreen.

Not to mention they shoved bixby down my throat and I had to pay for blocking it....hope they recall Bixby faster than my Note 7!
