Hide notification content

Is there a way to hide notification content... Not the lock screen . I mean  whenn you're using the phone, when it's unlocked. For example... I want WhatsApp to tell me there's a message but I just want the senders name to be shown.. Not the actual message content . Is this possible?

Doubt it, the android API only can differentiate between "Content" and "App Name". Perhaps if you don't secure the notifications WhatsApp might have its own option, but using the settings menu? Nope.
