Galaxy s9 theme animations not working

Hello, I just upgraded to a Gs9 yesterday from a Gs7 edge.  I applied my favorite [live]theme but now the animations on the lock screen do not work.  I have searched endlessly in the settings and online but I can't find anything.  Any ideas?

Hey @RyanR, welcome to the community! Was this a theme you downloaded from the Google Play Store? If so, does the app page in the store mention anything regarding compatibility?

Yes the theme was from the Google Play Store, and no I did not see anything about compatibility.  Also I have checked all of my live themes and none of them work correctly either.  I ever downloaded a new one that just came out and it doesn't work either.  Either the animations do not work or the lock screen is missing all together and just shows the home screen.

Hi i have also posted asking the same question. Having tried some of my themes which worked perfectly well on my previous phone to no avail. I then purchased a couple of new themes from the official Samsung app which comes already installed. It was even more disappointing that they didn't work either. Please can anybody help.

I found that using the stock theme your s9 came with and re-applying that, then re-applying the theme/theme's that are no longer working (lock screen animations) will work again.  I scoured the settings for days trying to fix this, but I just gave up and thought, why not just go back to the stock s9 theme.  -  This for me fixed the problem.

Reinstalling the default theme completely fixes the problem. Thanks a million to cowfood for the around.

Hi,

So my old animated thunderstorm ocean stopped working noticed it after I downloaded a animated baboo forest tjat never worked and then went back to my old animated theme  and it was also "broken"  the lock screen was now a  still of the home screen.  Resetting to factory default settings and then reappling did not fix this at all.  Figured it had to be the last update a few weeks ago. Went to a standard blue samsung default theme on the theme app marked 'motion' on it though who knows why as its not animated. When it asked you to do lock and home screen click yes and quick at the bottom is a radio button to click on motion. If it is not clicked and blacked in then the motion wont work. Do this before the screen advances and sets up the theme.  I did this and applied the default the  reapplied  my newly  animated theme and the lock screen moves. Wow. Took me hours to figure that our scouring settings and online.  Talk about a hidden setting!!! There is no place to see this radio button anywhere else in the themes animated section. Ugh.
