Hi all,
I hope someone can assist me with my current issue.
I bought a SIM free (no contract) Galaxy S9 from the store Interdiscount in Switzerland, 1 month ago. I used my old Lebara SIM card (which I have been using for 2 years) until recetly I went back to my country Vietnam.
I found out my phone is region locked since I probably didnt make enough 5 mins phone call while I was in Switzerland
I still have that Lebara SIM with me. My question is, can someone from Switzerland call me (instead of me calling them) when Im here in Vietnam using the Lebara SIM, and it will unlock the phone? Or does the call HAVE TO BE WITHIN SWITZERLAND, and I HAVE TO MAKE THE CALL, NOT RECEIVING?
Is there any other option in case this doesnt work?
Thann you very much for your help

As far as I'm aware you need to be in the country of origin the phone was bought from using a local sim card and make around x3 five minute outbound calls to remove the region lock.
If a Samsung phone isn't bought directly from Samsung then it could also be locked to a particular network. Samsung cannot remove this lock. Only the network it's locked to can.
If you know someone in the country of origin maybe an option would be to ship it to them to region unlock ot and then ship it back.
Or wait u til you return to that country or sell it and buy one that'll accept your sim card.
I wish you all the best with this situation.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "
