Sounds like you've got screen burn or app ghosting. It is repairable. There are ways to cut down the chances of screen burn like changing screen brightness lower and reducing screen light time.
Replacing the screen would be the fix, you'd have to find out whether doing so on an old phone is economically viable as opposed to getting a newer S series or A Series with better hardware and current Android
