I suddenly have BT Sport on my S9 after the latest security update. I didn't see it mentioned anywhere and I don't want it.

How do I remove it?

Hi guys,

EE are currently offering 3 months free subscription to the BT Sports app so this is likely to be the reason that it has been added in a recent update. To find out more please check the link below:

Thanks for the explanation Andrew. I'd still rather they mention it than just include it in an update but that's something I'll take up with EE.

Thanks for clearing up the mystery.

(Would love some moderator input on the One UI threads - we're feeling very unloved and unheard by Samsung right now.)

Can you upload a screenshot @anneedgewitch

I'm in the UK so to me Bt Sport is an app that a person downloads from the Playstore which can be uninstalled quite easily.

This wouldn't come as part of any software update from Samsung.

I managed to uninstall it not long after I posted but it definitely came as part of the update and launched when the phone restarted because it came up with a screen asking for me to accept or decline permissions. I'm not into sport, so it's not something I'd ever have downloaded and I don't recall seeing it before.

I was worried that it'd be like Upday, and keep reinstalling itself. Let's hope not!

Thanks for your help. @bandofbrothers.

Well that's a conundrum as the Samsung updates wouldn't introduce an app.

If the Bt Sport App has ever been downloaded on the past and then uninstalled via the phone it would still remain in a persons Playstore library.

I'd suggest to go into your Playstore and my apps and delete it from there too.

Thanks. I went through my entire Play library, right back to my first Android phone (bottom of the list) and I couldn't find it there. 🤷‍♀️

Fair enough.

Something has glitched then.

I'm not.doubting it came.from somewhere @BenjaminJFoster

I'm on the 1st of February 19 Security Patch Update with no Bt Mobile app imposed during the update.

I'm using an unbranded Note 9 purchased directly from Samsung in the UK.

You can uninstall it if you go to your apps list, tap on that app. Should have the option to uninstall.

I'm glad to hear it's not just me! Still  not great that Samsung will install apps without warning.

I'm in the UK but am using a phone locked to the EE Network. It's possible that they put it in with the update....?????

EE always seem to be adding bloatware so it wouldn't be a stretch of the imagination.
