Does anyone know if Samsung are launching a beta program for Android pie? The early builds are out.

This is the reply I got just minutes ago.
Now I'm even more confused regarding which phones will be able to sign up to the Beta program!

If your phone is from Vodafone, Three, O2, EE you won't get the update. Even you unlock it because the firmware is still the carrier firmware.
You need to get factory unlocked phone from Samsung store. Which is BTU firmware. BTU firmware will get the Beta 100%.
Also carphone warehouse has factory unlocked phones.
You can try to change firmware if you want at your own risk.
And don't believe that guy on I Reddit web site he don't have the original source where he got his information from?

There's absolutely no risk in changing the frimware (which is what I did by installing the BTU version) as long as you do it through Odin and avoid installing a custom kernel!

BTU or XEU are both unlocked/unbranded firmwares for the UK, I changed mine from o2 carrier (O2U) to XEU
First download and flash the BTU/XEU firmware, then on first boot it should ask you to reset your phone because of a SIM card change (Mine was in German) and once it resets it will switch CSCs to BTU or XEU
When you flash the firmware you MUST choose "CSC" and not "HOME_CSC", otherwise the CSC will not change

Think it depends where you got the phone from as to which CSC you have
I got my S7 on o2 from the carphone warehouse and it was XEU
I got my S9 from o2 themselves and it was on O2U

It only depends on your CSC .And truely a Firmeware Change is not Avoid annything as long as you do it with Odin. There are so many Descriptions on xda and Vids on u tube this can do everyone...
