Android 10 update kills Daydream compatibility

Just like that, without any notice or warning, Daydream no longer works on my S9+.

The same applies to S9 and Note 9, which used to be perfectly compatible with Daydream, but now all you get is this:

Screenshot_20200201-111142_Daydream.jpg

Note that the scene behind this dialog window is actually perfectly rendered, and the phone itself is using the "low motion-blur" screen mode.

The problem is, in Android 8 and Android 9, these phones have defined a system flag "android.hardware.vr.high_performance", which is no longer defined on Android 10.
This is a Samsung-specific problem, as Pixel phones running Android 10 can still use Daydream perfectly (as reported in this Reddit thread).

Hopefully Samsung will be able to get around to fix this problem in a future system update, as it only requires them to add a single xml file to the system image...

Can you please post a picture of your current build number and of the working Daydream VR?

Samsung needs to fix this. This is ridiculous. They removed something that was a selling feature unnecessarily.

Can anyone confirm the latest patch has daydream working??? What's the patch number?

Yes, this is Samsungs fault. Daydream should still work fine, but they made a mistake. Please fix in oneui2.0 or security update.

The version that I am running:

Compile number : G960FXXS7DTB5
Android-version : Q(Android 10)
Release date : 2020-03-12

I have run Netflix VR app on my Samsung S9 with this. Did not work before updating.

Update: turns out that I was wrong. The update doesn't seem to resolve the issue. I'm going to root my S9 to fix this problem myself.

This seems to only be a security patch. Can you try the actual Daydream VR app? Does it go to the Daydream home screen? Does the controller work?

You're right! The Daydream app doesn't work nor does the controller. But Netflix VR app starts without the notice about unsupported phone.

This really make me upset with Samsung!

What can we do to get their attention? I haven't seen them comment or address this issue publicly.

What about other Daydream apps? Does the controller work for them? I have a bunch of paid apps that I can't now use because of Samsung's anti-consumer decision making! Keep talking and nobody explodes, Virtual virtual Reality, blade runner, etc. Almost hundreds of dollars of apps down the drain.

I'm so disappointed in Samsung in this. I wish they would make a statement of some kind at least. They are literally ignoring us.
