S25 is locked with a google password

Hi!

The new S25 asks for a google password. I do not know neither the password nor the google email address because I never use the google account.

 

But now the phone does not let me use it until I enter the google password.

How can one overcome this issue? I do have purchase IMEI receipt of the phone.

Any thoughts?

@UserNewMexico: Where did you purchase your Galaxy S25 from? If it was purchased used/second hand, then you may be encountering a factory reset protection lock that was put in place by the previous owner. If you haven't registered your own Google account to the device then this is likely to be the case, therefore I encourage you to speak with the retailer/seller directly to discuss your options regarding a refund or replacement.

Sounds like it's used and not new. Sounds like the Google frp lock. Usually when someone's factory reset the phone without signing out of their Google account. When this happens it prompts for the password or screen unlock pin.

It is brand new and I have the purchase receipt with IMEI. So, easiest solution, return the S25, buy a new one and be very careful regarding samsung/google account set up, right?

@UserNewMexico: I'm slightly confused by exactly what you have experienced, as you should not typically be prompted to enter your Google account password unless you have performed a factory data reset, and Google Factory Reset Protection is enabled. If it is your own Google account, and you have forgotten your password, then you may be able to arrange for the phone to be unlocked by an authorised engineer, provided that you have valid proof of purchase.

Where do I find such an engineer, because I have the valid proof of purchase, my ID. I just do not know my google password and I cannot recover it neither.

You can arrange for a Samsung engineer to take a look at your phone via https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/repair/

I talked to a technician, the google password cannot be cirumvented. Thus, I will bring it back to the store. Problem (somewhat) solved.
