I thought phones had to be unlocked to get beta 🤔 mine is an EE phone

Usually they do, but it depends on the carrier. Your phone might be from ee, but it might have been sold to you unlocked

So many variables- ui8 as it stands on the beta is pretty much the same with some background changes

All phones are unlocked in the EU and UK.

This year's One UI8 beta - Samsung have listened to feedback and have made more capacity and engaged with some mobile networks to help more users join.

This was a major gripe last year so kudos to Samsung for taking this on board.

All phones in the EU and UK are unlocked after January 2021. The only thing that Networks do is provide your phone and network connections.
