Volume & Map Problem

My volume control keeps decreasing on it's own. I use Google Maps all the time but the bottom of the screen when pressed does not work. I have to turn the phone sideways to use it. Which is very annoying! I had exactly same problems with my S23!! Went back to store but they had no idea. Can anyone recommend anything please?

Hi, and welcome to the UK community

Check the volume down button for damage or if it's sticking. If you have a case then check it's not fowling the button.

Try a hard reset

With the device powered up, Hold the Volume down button and Power button simultaneously for 10 seconds. The screen will go off. Continue to hold buttons until the device vibrates and the Samsung logo appears. Release buttons. Device will reboot. Once done, please check if the issue is resolved.

Here's a screenshot of Google Maps on my S24 Ultra.  Everything on the bottom of the screen works.

My physical volume control is located near the top right edge of the phone.

I also use One Hand Operation + / Quick Tools and can swipe, in this case, from the right and call up an assortment of controls.

I have no idea what you are referring to.

Could you provide a screenshot of your phone?

Hi there, @LoudLisa. In addition to what has been asked and suggested, have you tried running a hardware test on your phone?

To do this, please head to Samsung Members > Support > Phone diagnostics > Touch screen.

Please replicate the test for Buttons.

Additionally, I recommend going through the steps provided in the guide below (from Samsung US):

Since you said you had the same problem with an earlier phone, is it possible the problem is outside the phone?  Are you using the same brand case, are you using a case with a magnetic holder ... is there something in common outside the phone?

It would be great if you would post a follow-up.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my plea. I did the hard reset and have been out using the map - with no problem!!!! Volume has remained at desired level so fingers crossed 🤞 it's worked! Thankyou all again x
