Terrible Post Processing

  • I just recently got the s24 ultra and it's been pretty great so far. For the most part the pictures have turned out pretty good but I've noticed plenty of times that the post-processing can absolutely ruin images. Lately it feels like it's only gotten worse with the vast majority of pictures I take looking like genuine garbage. Coming from the s21 and having to put up with this has been infuriating. Not only that but then seeing people have been complaining about this for years and Samsung can't even give us the option to undo it or completely toggle it off has me doubting I'll ever buy Samsung again. Seriously, it would be such a simple fix and it would make all of us happy, keeping their customers going to them but nah. Apparently we're asking for too much just because we don't want some of our pictures to be completely blown out. You can't brag about having a good camera and then leave us with terrible "enhancements" that make the camera quality completely redundant.

I can't say I've ever felt this on my S24 Ultra and S25 Ultra. Sure there are some times post processing effects can look a little off, but the majority of photos I've taken, typically have looked far superior to my shots taken on my S21 Ultra. I'd say more photos on the S25 Ultra look more like the natural tones and colours.

Your post seems to jump quickly from ' for the most part the pictures have turned out pretty good'

To...

The vast majority of pictures look like.genuine garbage.

I guess my question is which one is it ? You say you only recently got the S24 ultra.

I assume with you having tried everything that is possible, that you have turned the 'intelligent optimisation' settings down to minimum in the settings ?

Are you point and shooting ? How is your photography skill ?

Most users with similar complaint to you have found that once they have learned the camera system better, that it improves things considerably.

There are some good creators on youtube that give great tips on the camera systems on the s24 and s25.

It might be a good idea to check out this video.

Hi.
I thought the same when I had the phone last year. Have you updated to Android 15 yet? After you update it's not going to be so bad anymore, the camera is even better optimised on Android 15 for S24U. I enjoyed the phone and the camera anyway.

Unfortunately I'm one of those run into same issues, grainy images of subjects but occasionally brilliant. Lots of focus issues so I've just given up troubleshooting after a couple of days of trying

I am satisfied with the quality of the pictures. The Ultra processing after uploading into gallery bothered me.

I've managed to get good images on this phone and I'm very familiar with cameras and how to take pictures. I've done everything involving the settings and even tried Google photos but that didn't work. The problem is, I even had a whole photoshoot where the majority of photos ended up oversaturated with way too much contrast and the brightness was too high. The camera itself is fantastic, I have no problems there and I have no issues taking photos. The problem is that their post-processing is heavily flawed and unchangeable. It's insanely frustrating that I can't just undo the post-processing because it feels like a 50/50 split on how it'll turn out. The only solution I've found is just using portrait mode and reducing the effect to 0. It still gets post-processed but it's way less than if I choose 50mp or 200mp. If you love what the phone does to your pictures, that's cool but at the very least it should be something you can undo.

Ok fair enough.

You are not the first person to not be impressed with camera processing on s24u.

Personally I am unable to add my experience as I went from s23u to s25u, so I didnt get involved with s24u.

I was just confused with your post. The comments seemed to contradict themselves from 'recently purchased', to 'most pictures turned out pretty good', to then say 'vast majority look like general garbage'.

I also wondered which message you were portraying... whether you were looking for some tips and help... or this was a general statement of frustration.

At this stage I would wait and see how things are with the oneui7 changes and the overhaul with the new camera software.

Also what happens if using expert Raw or pro modes where you have more control over contrast, white balance and exposure ?
