Just got a brand new S24+ and tbh, the camera quality, especially when it comes to indoor photos in artificial light, is worse than I could have ever imagined. Knowing last year's S23+ and Ultra, this year's S24 seems a major downgrade.
I see severe color noise, fuzzy skin and hair and washed out colours. If the colour issue can be easily corrected with a quick edit, the other two: noise and people skin and hair processing are not. I could shoot in RAW and edit after but this is not the point.
I have tried to switch all sort of settings from On to Off and back again, within the Camera app settings and Camera Assistance. Expert Raw is having another problem by applying heavy contrast and sharpening, ruining the entire picture. Curious if anyone has found anything to at least improve a bit because it is quite clear the entire processing of the camera is subpar? If this is what Samsung calls "Smart AI processing", it is a real joke, remembering me the last year's iphone 14 with the same oil paint, fuzziness and mediocre camera processing.

Thank you for the comparison photos above. As far as. I was aware there was still some post processing occuring to Pro mode photos (possibly expert RAW?) but I will have to try this out over the coming days also and compare!
It's is still astounding this is what they shipped...

I tried the expert RAW too, but it seemed too complicated. Not sure if Pro mode still has post processing. I wonder though if POST processing is really the issue or the only issue. Because even before shooting a photo, the image on screen looks unnatural in the regular photo mode. And: Video recordings in the regular mode get so extremely awful - especially when I view them on a larger computer screen. So pixalized and distorted. In the Pro video mode however, the videos are excellent.
On thing I really don't get: Why is none of the influencers on Youtube, etc. talking about this? Are the not noticing this? Are they ignoring this? Are they all using Pro mode when they compare cameras? Or are they all paid by Samsung?

I posted a thread on the video issue also.
The video I uploaded was never approved but there is a noticable focus shift when going between lenses and also a very noticeable colour shift.
Noticed it gets more vivid and unnatural at 5x zoom

I've tried pro mode. It's the same for me. Grainy low quality pics.
I'm going to be dumping this phone in favor of a pixel 9 when they release. i take a lot of photos with my phone when hiking and traveling. It's a deciding factor when I get phones.
The state of the camera on my S24 plus is pathetic.

I agree and will be doing the same. I've stated it before elsewhere, but I was getting better photos on my old Xiaomi which cost €300 new 7 years ago.
Extremely dissatisfied with the quality on this €1400 flagship phone...

I bought a S24+, downgrading from S10. For the camera does not perform anywhere as well as the S10,
I use my phone to take snaps of mdl/serial No.s' on Air conditioners ,usually 4' to 10' away, as I do asset registers for large organisations. The S24+ can not produce clear pics where as the s10 could.

It is absolutely ridiculous...
I posted example shots here of the affect I am getting on barcodes.
Low light shots are abysmal too, the camera F's up even daytime shots with colour shifts.
I know I'll be getting rid of it as soon as the next Pixel, iPhone etc. trade in deal comes around.

Hi, I came here to see if I'm not the only one with this problem. Like this was not the story I was sold in the store or online. I'm so disappointed. I had a s20 for just under 4 years and with each new upgrade the camera quality got worse. I splashed out on the s24+ hoping for above all else, better photo quality. It's as bad as the s20. The only positive of this phone vs my s20 is the battery life. I don't see any other advantages. If anyone on here is looking for a s24+ review, my advice is don't get one.

It's now August 2024 and none of the updates helped me at all. The s24 plus has been the greatest let down. I've been with galaxy since the s4. This is making me consider jumping ship at my next upgrade. Samsung cares more about gatekeeping their new advancements on their ultra and doing nothing to offer their customers quality on their lower priced tiers. Disappointed

The Ultra has the same issues...
The promised big camera update still hasn't arrived and honestly it's too late now.
the new pixel 9 is looking mighty tempting, I've learned my lesson though and will wait to test it in person, instead of preordering this time.
