Sorry to hear of your issues.
You mention the "silly" data warning..... I'm presuming you've checked that your data warning hasn't stopped your data usage? There are two:
Data warning
Data limit
Please check both if you haven't already. If you're on unlimited data you can turn both off.
After that, I would recommend a Reset MOBILE Network Settings be performed followed by a Wipe Partition Cache on your device then do a restart.
You won't lose any data and you network should send your device updated APN's automatically which should update themselves, typically in seconds.

Many thanks, I've checked the data warning and limit, but it's hard to see how to switch it off - i think I managed it this morning.
It didn't solve the problem unfortunately.
I'll try the reset mobile network etc next.
I had a lovely Samsung S20+ until last year but it began to have some strange habits. My lock screen always showed battery at 54% and only when swiped would I see the actual battery status. Then it gradually started not reacting when I touched the login button on some apps.
The theory was that my S20+ was 4 years old so I got a new phone.
Data was transferred to my new S24 but it seems the faults lay with the software, not my lovely old phone. So I have all the old problems but in the new phone.
I always wonder if new problems are linked to the old ones.
Sorry to go on a bit, but have you heard of such issues before?
Cheers

Post update, on my S24, I have issues with the Wi-Fi. Mobile data is working fine (4G and 5G), but the Wi-Fi is not working at all. My internet connection is good because all my other devices connected to the same Wi-Fi have internet connectivity, but my phone doesn't. I tried to reset the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings, but I still have the same issue. Any hints on how to solve this or how to roll back to the previous version?
