Hi,
If your Samsung Gallery is unexpectedly saving photos, it's likely due to automatic syncing with cloud services like OneDrive or Google Photos, or potentially from other apps like WhatsApp. To stop this, you'll need to adjust your settings within the Gallery app, OneDrive, or other relevant apps to disable automatic syncing or sharing.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

1. Check Gallery Sync Settings:

Open the Gallery app and go to Settings.

Look for options related to syncing or cloud storage, such as "Sync with OneDrive" or "Cloud Sync".

Disable the sync feature if you don't want your photos automatically saved to a cloud service.

2. Manage OneDrive Sync:

If you're using OneDrive, go to your Microsoft account's additional security options.

Select Samsung Cloud and remove permissions to stop syncing.

Within the Gallery app, you can also adjust OneDrive sync settings by selecting the specific albums you want to sync or disabling the sync feature entirely.

3. WhatsApp Media Auto-Download:

If you're seeing WhatsApp images in your Gallery, open WhatsApp, go to Settings > Storage and data > Media auto download.

Uncheck "Photos" in each category to prevent automatic downloads of images.

4. Check App Permissions:

Ensure that the Gallery app has the necessary permissions to access photos and videos.

Go to your phone's Settings > Apps > Gallery > Permissions and verify that "Photos and videos" is allowed.

5. Consider Other Apps:

If you're using other apps that automatically save photos, such as news apps or social media apps, check their settings for media saving or auto-download options

Hi @steviecowie  Welcome to the Samsung Community :smiling-face:

some additional information:

it can happen if  you are viewing  an image file rather than displaying directly in the browser. in Samsung internet settings , checksites and Downloads,  Downloads- can ask before starting download.   There is also a setting for sync with Samsung cloud which you can disable. if syncing with  Google photos or One Drive that will have an impact. check your settings.  if still want some syncing  in one Drive you can select Gallery preferences,All photos, picture  Folder or only photos synced with Samsung Devices.

some apps will be Auto set to download photos to your Gallery.  can change this in whats app as mentioned, gG to settings-storage and Data-Media Auto Download.  can deselect photos ,video and other files when using Mobile Data, when connected and when roaming.

For glitches you can also clear the cache of the Gallery  App to see if that makes a differerence.

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.
