This is more of a suggestion or request than a question.

Please put the fingerprint reader back on the rear of the phone so we can use a screen protector.

I just went from a Note9 to a S24 ultra and it's a pain to use the through the screen reader without a screen protector and impossible to use with a screen protector.

The fingerprint reader on the rear of my Note9 worked perfectly every time and was positioned just right.

Why change something that works and I feel I'm not the only one that feels this way.

Just needed to get that off my chest.

Love the S24 Ultra, hate the fingerprint reader.

Maybe you can fix it in a future OS update.

Thanks for letting me rant.

I personally prefer the design either on screen or on the power button, The back just wasn't as good. My s23 ultras screen protector works brilliantly with the scanner, so maybe it's just a matter of the one u bought isn't as good as others?
I also think the scanners haven't been on the back for close to 6 years now? could be wrong though.

Hey there and welcome to the Samsung UK and EU Community Forum

Like @UNKNOWNUSERNAME I personally prefer it on screen. I keep my device in a case like many (or even most?) users so having the fingerprint button on the rear of the device would make it unusable for me / many / most.
I am not employed by Samsung nor do I receive any remuneration as a Samsung Members Star.

My device is an S25 Ultra.

The best place for the fingerprint reader is on the power button, no doubt.

As for under the screen, I'm using a soft protector, search "hydrogel screen protector" online. It's not tempered whatever but personally I was never a fan of those to begin with. I need a protector against the otherwise inevitable micro scratches, as for potential drops, my solution is to just not drop the phone. Has worked for 2 decades now. : D

Agreed. Hydrogel protectors are definitely better, but their a pain when it comes to dust particles round the edges. I like the Z Flip 6 scanner (power button) but i also like the s23 ultras scanner (Screen). I don't think Samsung will ever change this, as they know it's simply fixed by buying a screen protector compatible with the scanner.

Hi @Schnabel1952 and may I extend a Warm Welcome to the Samsung Community Forum.  👋

I use the Spigen Ez Fit Glass Screen Protector which does not interfere with the Biometrics.

However after owning the Samsung Fold³ I'd prefer all the phone's to have the fingerprint Biometrics Scanner on the powerbutton.

Just my ²cents.

Yep exactly this, I think I got mine from amazon as needed one quickly, definitely a good buy. Don't know if I'd go back to glass screen protectors or not to be honest.

Absolutely, yes!

Hope Samsung would not take a backwards step by putting the fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone again. The list of reasons why, would be long. Having it under the display is one of the (many) great advantages over the i.....

It works very well. It works in the dark. No need to pick the phone up and fumble around on the back of it trying to find the scanner. It can be programmed multiple times to scan different fingers & thumbs - it must be very awkward using your thumb on the back of the phone.
