This is an exchange between me and the Samsung support team.... make of it what you might. But I am not happy at all
Me- It seems to be done by design as more people are complaining about it. If galaxy buds pro 2 are connected, One UI8 does disable Dolby Atmos and the handset equaliser in favour of the buds equaliser only, opposite to how things were with One UI7, which makes the sound quality TERRIBLE, LOW with less note definition and less bass. Please reverse this stupid tweak!
Samsung team- Hi , and thank you for your feedback regarding the sound quality of your Buds2 Pro. We want you to be able to get the best quality sound from your earbuds, so let’s get this sorted for you.
Please connect your earbuds to your mobile device and open the Galaxy Wearable app. Select the option named “Sound quality and effects” and toggle the switch next to “360 audio” to On. This will let experience sound from all directions and enjoy an immersive audio experience. If you want an even more immersive experience, you can enable “Head tracking”, which adjusts the sound direction when you turn your head.
We hope this has assisted you with your query. To continue speaking with us, please tap ‘Ask again’ at the bottom of your screen.
Me- Regarding the 360 effect. I already tried it. To me it makes sounds even worse. Louder with less bass and more treble. It’s never like Dolby atoms music effect at all
Samsung team- Thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand you were using the phone’s custom EQ but this no longer applies to our Buds series following One UI 8. Currently, you would need to use the Buds EQ to customise further. This is found under Settings > Connections > Bluetooth > Settings Gear icon next to the Buds > Equaliser. We will be remedying this issue with the release of our One UI 9 update in the future.
A3- The equalizer of the buds is rubbish on its own
