I think it's high time android added a verification before any app installation. Gave my phone to someone to check out a video and they quickly shared an apk file to my phone amd installed it without my knowledge. I believe every app installation should be put behind biometrics lock for security reasons, so people don't install malicious app in your phone and turn off Play protect.

I know about the pin app, but one can simply forget like I did. Will still be a good idea to add a feature like that .

@Codelava  the phone should be set up to not allow downloads from unknown sources.

Also I'm astonished that someone you know who was just meant to check a video would when want to install an Apk file on a phone that does not belong to them.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

Hi @Codelava

There are a couple of lessons there. One should never share the phone, if shared, never lose sight of it.

Sharing an apk file, and installing it take a bit of time and a few taps. I would welcome any security feature but the responsibility is ours.

In general, I like the idea of authenticating installation of new apps (like on the iphone). Having said that, Samsung phones now have the Auto Blocker feature.

If you are on One UI 6.x, have a look at the Auto Blocker feature in Settings > Security and privacy and toggle it on.

@Codelava   Appreciate the concern but with the Auto Blocker  not sure such a feature   would be a priority,

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.

The best that can possibly be done by Samsung is to make password a requirement for making changes to the Auto Blocker settings.
