High-power usb device connected

Hi guys, 

I ran into this problem when connecting my external hard drive(hdd, exfat32) to either my s23 lr my mum's a54. The hdd keeps ticking and does not start spinning. Both phones give this error "High-power usb device connected". For reference my huawei tablet and my dad's budget xiaomi phone

 has no problem recongnising the hard drive.

Its quite annoying, you would expect a flagship device not to have problems like this.

Hi.
It's not the phones fault.
The drive needs more power to operate normaly, than the phone puts out to it.

hey,
why do you think it works with other phone brands then? essentially, it's samsung's fault. a flagship phone should supply sufficient power.
