I have a Galaxy S23 ultra that shows a scratch when the screen is wet. The same happened with my previous S21 ultra. The strange thing is that it does not show under bright light and you can't see it normally. It is not that important but does anyone know why this happens. The phone is in a flip case and the area with the scratch is always covered

It could be just the oleophobic coating, maybe just the way it was applied. I wouldn't worry too much if it's only visible while wet.

I appreciate your time to reply, Fiona. Glad to hear that you think it is just the coating.

Hello @Tina2009

Scuffs can be picked up even when the phone is in a case unfortunately.

It can take a spec of grit to rub the display and the coating can be marked.

As @Fiona26 suggests if it's not overly bothering you and it's not spoiling your use of the phone then see of you can 👀 past the mark.

That or fit a glass screen protector such as the Whitestone Dome which should help to hide it more.

If I can be of any further help then please don't hesitate. Take care.  😎

Thanks for your comments. As it only shows when screen is wet, I am not overly bothered. Not a great fan of screen protectors as they always seem to make the display less vibrant.

That's fair enough @Tina2009

I use an official Samsung Tpu Screen Protector because having micro abrasions show up on the display from general wear and tear catch my eye.

I had a scratch on my previous phone and I determined it was caused by the seatbelt buckle in my car.   I could only see it when the screen was entirely black, when the screen was on, you couldn't see it.

It bothered me for a while, but after some time, it was fine (even though I knew the scratch was there).

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Yes, you are right. I am sure I will also get used to it. Mine
is barely visible.

I have been using the same Samsung screen protector since the day I had my S23U (pre-ordered it) and have been really impressed by it.
