Greetings, I'm considering buying the S24 Ultra and I'm interested in the original Smart View flip cover for this phone. Since the cover is more or less the same for the S23 Ultra, I have a question about its functionality - when I close the cover, the phone automatically locks and displays the clock in a small window in the cover cutout. Is there any way to adjust the functions of the cover? My main concern is to be able to take photos with the cover closed, which I currently use a lot for quick photos or if I only have one hand available. Since the camera can be opened by double pressing the lock button, and should be able to take pictures by pressing the volume button, the option to take pictures with the cover closed is totally offered.
I now have an older phone Huawei Mate 20 Pro with the original Huawei cover - a variant of Samsung's Smart View flip cover. Directly in the system I can turn off auto locking when I close the cover, but if the locking is on, the camera and other apps cannot be launched with two button presses when the cover is closed, so I have the locking mostly off. But this is Huawei, not Samsung.
So how does the cover behave on the S23 Ultra? Can it be disabled/configured in the system? Are there any exceptions for apps that can turn on even with the cover closed? First of all, I mean the camera. And does the cover really protect the phone? Especially if the phone survives a fall to the ground from a height without the slightest damage and the case does not open in a fall.
Sorry for the lengthy question and thank you very much for your answers.

Hello, unfortunately, I don't personally own this cover, so I'm unable to describe its behavior, but based on previous experiences, I would expect that photography should work. Samsung allows for the activation of the camera even when the phone is locked. However, the user would, of course, have access only to their own photos that they have taken.
Regarding protection, people generally agree that it doesn't provide much protection in case of a fall, as the cover is held closed only by a weak magnet, and upon impact, the book often opens, leaving the phone unprotected. It's probably at a similar level of protection as a regular back cover, so I would recommend complementing it with a screen protector or a film for added safety.
