I think you will find the omission of SD cards is permanent now. Been this way for a while.
Also other manufacturers are following this trend as well.

Personally I do miss them, but have adapted to use cloud based services.
I do plug in an SD card reader into my phone at times for certain things.

But it's all going cloud based these days, and with Apple now starting a trend in some parts of ESIM only phones. Soon the sim tray will be disappearing once network providers get upto speed with ESIM

I'm not clued up with the latest SD card speeds, but is it also possible that they can't keep up with the latest internal storage read/write speeds?

SD cards are not the fastest technology (thought there may be better ones available now) but personally have not used them for a while. The slots not a priority for manufacturers for reasons already mentioned. There can also be a problem with overeating though that should only really be in lower end devices. Issues though can arise if using lower quality cards. Some information here https://www.atulhost.com/the-real-reason-why-microsd-card-slots-are-disappearing-from-smartphones

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.

Because Joe public would but a £10 sd card and then complain about their premium phone lagging so badly they could not record a 8k video without phone crashing. You want a phone with an sd card but one with an sd card. What's the definition of insanity? Moaning the next Galaxy S phone doesn't have an SD card 🤣

I agree, they add better cameras, and ability for high resolution recording, but then take away the micro SD slot. You can't record video to the cloud.

This is one reason I still have my S20+. And if Samsung doesn't bring it back I will go to another brand that does have SD. It honestly makes no sense to remove it, even with the "cloud" option (which most are for a fee...)

Sounds like they are copying apple, you're out of storage just pay us this monthly fee and we will store your data.

Sd are on their way out. Now ssd and stuff yes.

Majority people just wanna share videos via social media. Maybe 5% want high res and stuff. There are ways to do it.

One of the main reasons I have stuck with Samsung mobiles is for the option of an SD card. Now that they have removed that feature I will be looking at alternative suppliers of mobiles phones. Not all of us are happy with putting all of their personal data on cloud services.
