Im not completely sure if it uses more power than adjusting manualy, but it uses your camera (or sensor) to reduce brightness to what you need so i keep this on...

I use a A12...

Turning off adaptive brightness and setting it to what suits you would be easier on battery. But sometimes it does help having adaptive brightness on in bright outdoor conditions. I have struggled to see when I've pulled my phone out on a sunny day, lol. Turned off does save battery. Probably would prevent screen burn in too if not turned on all the time, and set to what suits you.

Easiest thing I find is to ask Bixby to turn on adaptive brightness, when out in bright light.
Then tell Bixby to turn it off when not required, and tell it to set brightness at 25%. Or lower of course, if needed.

My understanding is that adaptive brighness does have the chance of using more battery as the phone adapts to the lighting conditions.

I prefer to turn this off and adjust the brightness manually @sarasphotobox

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

I turned off the adaptive brightness and set it manually, now its much easier on the eyes and the battery.
