Printer issue

Hey, i have no wifi at home so i use my mobile hotspot on my device (s23 plus). I cant get my printer to connect via wifi (which it used to on my s8) but can via direct. But i have noticed that my Internet (mobile data) wont work at the same time. So if i try to Google something while connected to the printer, it doesn't let me. It's this normal?

It shouldn't affect your phone when a device connects to it as a hotspot, however your internet will slow down. I'm not sure about WiFi direct but this should only be active whilst something is printing from your phone. The best way is normally to download the app that matches your printer e.g hp smart for hp printers etc and that should put the appropriate drivers on your phone rather than using generic print drivers. In my experience printing from the phone can be temperamental somtimes

Wouldn't it be easier just to print direct to the printer via a cable from your phone?
I do that with my phone (A53 5G) and printer, and it works a treat.
