I accidentally poke the hole on top of my S23+

I was tired from work and a little blur. I wanted to quickly get my new S23+ set up so that I could go to sleep and have a new phone ready to use tomorrow.

My S10+ sim tray was on top so I automatically stabbed the hole at the top of the S23+ as well a few times, only to realise after a few attempts that it was the wrong hole. I tested with the diagnostic tool and the microphone seems to work just fine but I am unsure whether I might have damaged its water/dust resistance or something else doing this.

I heard the S23 Ultra has in-built protection against user stupidity of this sort, does the S23+ have it as well? I am kinda panicking and my local samsung shop has already closed for the night.

You will be perfectly fine.
The microphone is ofset inside the phone. So there's no way to damage it like this.

Don't worry as Glenntech has already said the microphone is slightly offset in the device for this exact reason so you wouldn't of damaged anything

I nearly did the same on my s23 ultra but at the bottom as there is like 3 holes luckily I missed it and like the others have said the microphone is right inside. Unless you used a paper clip and rammed it right in you'll be fine

Thank you for the replies, its a genuine relief that my new phone didn't get destroyed on its second day by me 😂. I heard that the S23 Ultra's mic hole was offset as well but I couldn't find any information on the S23+.

Had no idea whether it only applied to the Ultra line up, whether it was only for the bottom side, e.t.c.

To be honest with the ultra they should have put the hole for the sim tray on the opposite side but hey ho. The s21 was the same

The almost same thing happened to me just now. I poked into one of the two holes next to the usb-c port at the bottom, one of them is pretty close to the correct hole and I guess I wasn't paying enough attention. The poky thingy was in there pretty tight when I removed it - could this be a problem?

Looks like it shouldn't be a problem: https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/galaxy-s23-series/accidentally-poked-mic-hole-of-s23-ultra/td-p/...

I did exactly the same thing just now!  I had the S10+ also and SIM was on top!  I pressed down pretty ***** hard trying to release the SIM!  Let's hope no damage done.
