Hello,
After reading about awesomeness of Galaxy S21 and S22 Ultra cameras, together with my girlfriend we decided to switch from our OnePlus phones.
Phones just arrived, we immediatelly started taking pictures and they are disastrous. Phones are being sent back for a refund.
Here, have a comparison. All the phones on auto camera setting, with ALL picture improvements enabled, set to default resolution, main camera. Focus and light set on the bottle via touching the screen before taking a picture . All newest updates installed.
1. Galaxy S22 Ultra
2. OnePlus 7T Pro
3. Galaxy S21 Ultra
4. OnePlus Nord 2.
I also want to add that lighting of the scene did not change between pictures.
We went to local electronics shop (Saturn/Media Markt) to compare with phones available there, with the same results - OnePlus Nord 2 took the best quality pictures. And costs only fraction of S22 Ultra's price.
I do not look for help. I'm giving you an information, do with it what you want.

Can't agree more with the OP. My S22U takes disgraceful, terrible pictures too and I am extremely disappointed! I am thinking of switching to the Pixel 7 Pro for a few months until the S23U is released.

I think it is the software. It makes the photos washed out. I am very disappointed too with my S22 Ultra. I have the feeling, that my S9+ took better photos with the main sensor.

Doubtful. The RAW images are just as poor and while there is still "code" between the sensor and the RAW output, I'm more inclined to blame it on the physical elements (lens, sensor, or the particular combo).

They replaced the entire physical camera "system" ?

Agree. Really disgusted by the S22 Ultra photo quality. Bought mine late 2022. The salesman raved on about its photo quality when assessing which model to buy. The S22 Ultra takes the worst photos of not only all my prior samsungs, but absolutely any phone, including a 4 year old V30+, Pixel Pro 6 (my partner uses at half the price of the S22U), and anyone i take photos side by side with. The company is ruthless about pursuing sales but promotes features it doesn't deliver on. I've also spent collectively weeks not being able to get or send sms, call or receive calls because S22 Ultra also have a known issue since its launch with network connectivity that hasn't been addressed. So left with a new phone that only takes rubbish photos - and leaves me with no confidence that family and friends can actually call me when needed, or vice versa. Thinking my phone is essentially only fit to make an extraordinarily expensive door stop.
