It seems the posts about horrendous picture quality get quickly buried in this forum and Samsung are impossible to talk to.
Here is one example picture I took of a colleague from about 1 meter distance. He has a skin condition, but in the picture his skin appears spotless and notice his beard. It looks like it has been added using a brush. This is at ISO 160!!! That picture should be as sharp and natural as reality:
Here's the original because the one posted here has been reduced to useless: https://prnt.sc/k-et3iDsd8f0

Hi @madaload
Is your phone updated to the 2nd software update released this month as some say this has improved the camera ?
Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.
The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.

Of course it is. I've been checking for updates several times every day since I noticed how horrible the pictures are. Just don't tell me to reset the phone. I went to the local Curry's store and to a small smartphone shop just to take a picture and see if it is a problem with just my device. No. This is what the S22 does with pictures. It is shocking and so is Samsung support.

I'd just thought I'd ask about the software updates @madaload as you didn't mention this in your post.
I'm not going to suggest anything especially a Factory Reset as I believe that's a very last resort.
Now you haven't mentioned this either so I'm going to ask 🤔 ........
Have you sent feedback via your Samsung Members App under the GetHelp section ?
I appreciate your unimpressed with the results your phone's camera is giving.
Personally I'm a point and click photography person and don't really get into the various mode settings in the camera i.e Pro Mode so can't suggest anything there too I'm afraid.
My Samsung Galaxy s²² Ultra provides me with photo's I'm personally happy with.
I wish you all the best.

The Face filter is off. I really appreciate people trying to help, but this has nothing to do with user settings. This is plain and simple a camera SW problem. Samsung either thinks people like the porn spam style retouched images, or they are processing the pictures so aggressively because the camera sucks and this is how they hide the noise. Even the "RAW" images have problems and your results will depend on the SW in which you view or edit them.
Either way, I'm trying to draw Samsung's attention to the problem. They did it right for S8 and S9, so unless they decided to save on camera sensors and used crappy ones, they should be able to fix the problem with an update.

I tried. Only managed to talk to a robot and then got a phone number, which I refuse to call, because:
If they don't fix it I will simply sell the phone before Christmas and get an iPhone. It'd be great to have them at least acknowledge the issue though.

Fair enough @madaload
It's completely your choice if your not wanting to report your findings to Samsung and so I wish you all the best with your next choices of phone.
Take care.

You say you have no affiliation with Samsung, yet you sound like one of their reps and blaming me for not having the issue fixed.
I'm pretty sure it is every sane person's choice not to pay for reporting issues, especially after paying top dollar for an alleged flagship smartphone with an alleged industry leading camera, which is at the center of every advert for this smartphone.
