Just wondering why we now have two messages apps? I used the transfer app from my S20, but the 'wrong' app was added to the homescreen. Does it matter what one we use? I prefer the original one from my s20.. I assume its OK to swap back..

If you prefer Samsung messages to Google message, use Samsung and set to default. Also you can disable Google messages and just add Samsung messages to your homescreen.

Hi @Curr946  Google  Messages seems to be the default in the S22 Series worldwide .   Fine to use Samsung Messages if you prefer as a number do.  https://www.theverge.com/2022/2/14/22933170/samsung-galaxy-s22-google-messages-default-rcs  An earlier thread here https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/galaxy-s22-series/s22-ultra-messaging-app-confusion/m-p/4960951

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.

@Curr946: Further to the above, if you would like to prioritise the Messages app over Google Messages then please head to Settings > Apps > Choose default apps > SMS app, and tap the Messages app to select it.

Hi @Curr946

Totally appreciate what your saying in regards to the two options Samsung provide.

I personally prefer the Samsung Messages App shown as the round bubble messages icon myself and make that the default messaging app and disable the other.
